Actions / Indications:
  • Descends LU Qi; Dissolves Phlegm (phlegm accumulates and qi rebels upward, copious sputum, wheezing; either cold or heat when combined with other herbs)
  • Redirects ST Qi; Stops Vomit (vomiting due to cold from SP and ST def., MJ damp disorders with vomit, hiccups, can also be used for vomit due to ST heat, nausea and vomiting caused by phlegm accumulation and stomach deficiency)
  • (cc: yin deficiency with cough)

    Special Notes:
  • According to one Dr Ding Guan-Di for right sided hypochondriac pain you should combine Xuan Fu Hua and Xiang Fu. For left sided hypochondriac pain Chuan Lian Zi and Yan Hu Suo are better.
  • Dai Zhe Shi is often paired with Xuan Fu Hua to treat rebellious qi.
