In terms of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Cranberry is known for its ability to clear heat, promote urination, and resolve dampness.

In general the ancient Chinese medical texts cite that it enters the Large Intestine, Urine Bladder, and Kidney. The flavor of Cranberry is sweet and sour, and it is generally considered to be cold in temperature, while some sources consider it to be cool.

Because it is cold and goes to the bladder cranberry may help to clear acute bladder infection which is often seen as damp heat invasion of the bladder. Cranberry can help to relieve painful burning urination, strengthen the kidney, stop incontinence, and strengthen the kidneys. It may also help with infertility. [22]

For bladder infection drink 1 cup of unsweetened and undiluted cranberry juice with 1000mg of vitamin C every 3-4 hours. Drink an additional 5-6 cups of water daily. If symptoms do not relieve in 3 days see your doctor immediately. For kidney stones drink 1 cup of unsweetened cranberry juice with 8 glasses of water daily, and avoid high oxalate foods such as spinach, collard greens, and chard. To enhance fertility make a trail mix consisting of equal parts dried cranberry, walnut, sesame seed, longan fruit, and cashews. [22]
