In terms of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Grapes are known for their ability to tonify qi and blood. They also helps to regulate water and strengthen bones and tendons.

In general the ancient Chinese medical texts cite that it enters the Lung, Stomach, Spleen, Kidney, and Liver. The flavor of Grapes is sweet and sour, and they are considered to be neutral to slightly warm in temperature.

The red and purple varieties help to tonify the blood. Grapes can also help to relieve wind-cold-damp bi syndrome (arthritis and tendonitis), relieve painful urination, and harmonize the stomach. It may also help to relieve symptoms associated with damp heat such as hepatitis and jaundice.[22]

Contraindications: Wine should not be combined with fatty foods because it can create phlegm heat that rises to the heart and can cause stroke and heart attack. Excessive consumption of grapes can cause diarrhea or constipation [22].
