In terms of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Lychee is known for its ability to tonify blood. It also helps to promote qi circulation, regulate blood circulation, astringe the qi [22], calm the spirit[22], and disperse cold.

In general the ancient Chinese medical texts cite that it enters the Stomach and Spleen. The flavor of Lychee is sweet and sour, and it is considered to be warm in temperature.

According to some sources lychee helps to calm a restless heart [22]. For blood deficiency take 7 dried lychee and 7 black jujube date, boil a tea, and drink daily. For bedwetting eat 10 dried lychee daily. For nausea, vomiting, burping, and belching take dried lychee with the kernel, charcoal into powder, and take with warm water. For hernia bake the kernel of the lychee, grind into a powder, and take one teaspoon on an empty stomach daily. Or grind lychee kernel and mix with rice wine and drink every morning on an empty stomach. [22]


Contraindications: Overconsumption of lychee can lead to nosebleed, feverish sensation, and thirst. Lychee is contraindicated when any type of heat conditions are present. [22]
