Cooking Instructions: Ingredients: 1.5 cups cooked green beans, 1/4 cup toasted walnuts, 1/2 onion minced and sauteéd (optional), 1-2 tablespoons mayonnaise, 1/4 teaspoon sea salt, pinch of nutmeg (optional). To make this recipe combine all ingredients and blend together. Yields about 2 cups. Treats Eastern: This recipe is slightly pungent when onion is added, and the walnuts will benefit the kidney. The temperature of this recipe is very close to neutral, although it is slightly warming to the lung and large intestine. Eight of twelve ingredients enter into the kidney and spleen, including walnuts which nourish the brain. This recipe circulates qi and blood, and should help to improve digestion. It strongly tonifies the yin of the spleen and kidney. Treats Western: Walnuts are a good source of healthy fats, protein, fiber, vitamins, and minerals, including omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin E, and magnesium. Green beans are low in calories and rich in vitamins C, K, and A, as well as folate and fiber. The fiber in both walnuts and green beans can also help lower cholesterol levels and support heart health. |
