Yu Ping Feng San - 玉屏風散 - Jade Windscreen (Evergreen)

formula: Granules

Cooking Instructions: Source advise to grind ingredients into a powder and take 6g at a time with three pieces of Sheng Jiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Officianalis Recens). Taken twice daily in 6-9g doses by combining ingredients into warm water. Note: These percentages represent the formula from Evergreen Herbs, but actual percentages can vary according to practitioner and manufacturer preferences.

Treats Eastern: Augments the Qi, stabilizes the exterior, and stops sweating. Aversion to drafts, spontaneous sweating, recurrent colds, a shiny pale complexion, pale tongue with white coat. Pulse is floating and deficient. Deficiency of exterior with weak and unstable protective qi. Both this formula and gui zhi tang are used for treating conditions of exterior deficiency. Gui Zhi Tang is generally recommended for acute febrile disease unresolved by sweating, while Yu Ping Feng San is designed for ongoing chronic problems marked by spontaneous sweating together with frequent colds and aversion to drafts.

Treats Western: Aversion to drafts, spontaneous sweating, recurrent colds, a shiny pale complexion, pale tongue with a white coating and floating deficient pulse. Commonly taken to prevent common colds, particularly in those who suffer from recurrent colds. It generally takes 1 month or longer (up to 5 months) for this formula to reach maximum effectiveness.
