Cooking Instructions: In a medium or large rice cooker add 4 to 6 cups of raw pumpkin and cover with plenty of water. Add 1 lb of cooked shredded chicken. Add 16-24 whole cloves, salt to taste, and about 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon. Cook for 2-3 hours until the pumpkin cooks down and turns to mush and most of the water has evaporated, to form a thick soup. Garnish with a few sliced green onions. Treats Eastern: An excellent recipe to expel interior cold that may have accumulated in the muscle layers. Good to warm the interior while transitioning from late fall into winter. Spicy pumpkin soup tonifes spleen blood, and resolves phlegm and dampness in the spleen. It strongly tonifies spleen and lung qi. It also helps to clear phlegm from the lungs..
